Ghost Startles Chef...
Predawn single digit hours in Carmel can be an inspiration for one alone and at peace with the hush of what most often seems like a noisy, busy place. This is normally a time without interruption, good for doing inventory and the like. Imagine, then how Chef must have felt when the quiet solitude, in only moderate light was set upon by a shadowy figure, obviously of human shape and male. Chef turned to face the apparition as it looked him intently in the eye and with a wry translucent smile, proceeded through the kitchen wall toward the bar. A fearless, spiritual man, Chef followed slowly and watched as the ghost began to write on the mirror with a glowing pen.
Prepare for me a platter of your famous sizzling shrimp fajitas and allow me to take over your body so that I may eat for the first time in over 80 years.
Chef could not refuse the ghost of Jack London, so he carefully prepared the meal and allowed the spirit to dine. All seemed to fade into normalcy.
